Venue

The meeting venue is the California NanoSystems Institute on the UCLA campus.

UCLA is conveniently located 12 miles north of Los Angeles International Airport, and is easily reached by shuttle, taxi or rental car.

UCLA is approximately 8 miles east of the Santa Monica and Venice Beaches. It is only 2 miles west of Beverly Hills (Rodeo Drive), 6 miles west of Hollywood, and 10 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, home of the Frank Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall, the LACMA and MOCA art museums, the Hollywood Bowl, and Dodger Stadium.

Other nearby attractions include Disneyland, Universal Studios and Magic Mountain. There are abundant hiking opportunities in nearby Will Rogers State Park and the Santa Monica Mountains recreation area. Catalina Island is 26 miles across the sea, less than two hours by ferry.

Travel support
The organizers are raising funds to assist with student travel. The amount available will not be known until close to the meeting date. If you would like to request travel support, please do so on your registration form.

Visa information
If you anticipate any difficulty obtaining the required visa to enter the USA, please contact the organizer well in advance to request a letter of invitation.
