FDA approves bird flu vaccine / Scott Layne quoted in Los Angeles Times article

April 19, 2007 - April 18, 2007 - The Food and Drug Administration approved the United States' first human vaccine for bird flu Tuesday, saying it could slow a possible pandemic despite its modest effectiveness.

"This is a sort of interim measure," said Norman W. Baylor, director of the FDA's Office of Vaccines Research and Review in Rockville, Md.

Nanocomposite Membrane Receives International Recognition from Industry at Global Water Awards

April 16, 2007 - April 2, 2007 -- This year’s Global Water Awards were presented in conjunction with GWI 2007 Barcelona last week. Award winners were chosen by subscribers to Water Desalination Report, Global Water Intelligence and members of the IDA, AMTA and IWPA. The two day conference, subtitled “Where Water Meets Money,” was attended by more than 240 delegates who heard international speakers discuss the international water and desalination sector.
