November 15, 2006 - Heather Maynard, UCLA assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, was member of a delegation of young US scientists doing nanoscale research on a recent trip to Japan. The trip was sponsored jointly by NSF and MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan), and took the participants to various labs doing nano work throughout Japan. The group of delegates visited the NEC labs in Tsukuba. The CNSI is in the process of completing a three year agreement which will make NEC an affiliate member of the CNSI.
The group also visited with the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS); another partner of the CNSI. http://www.nims.go.jp/eng/wnews/061031-2/index.html
